Jungle Trekking in the Highland

I run the business with my mother. Our house is an extension of the Bario long house in Bario, Baram, Sarawak, Malaysia. Bario Highlands is inhabited by the Kelabit tribe who are well known for their friendliness and hospitality. The highland, a plateau surrounded by mountain ranges, is approximately about 3120 ft above sea level. The temperature is between 14 – 20 degree C, but could drop below 10 at night depending on the season.

We have about 9 rooms offering about 20 beds. Three of the bedrooms have fantastic view of the paddy field and mountains. Two large bedrooms downstairs that could accommodate between 4 – 6 people. The most unique feature is in the kitchen with a 50 years history, called the “tetel”, an earth fireplace. It is the heart of the house where conversations take place, and the traditional cooking is done. It is perfect for bar-be-ques traditional way. We also have a mini bar and a cafe.

The village is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Our farm hill offers an amazing 360 degrees picturesque view of the village. Our packages offer jungle trekking, mountain climbing, paddy field trails, and as well as guided tour to the villages.
